WLToys V950 Flybarless 6G RC Electric 3D Helicopter Review

WLToys V950 Explorer Series RC Electric 3D Flybarless helicopter is a 450 Size standard helicopter. If you have developed good 3D RC helicopter Skills and want to move on to bigger helicopters from Micro 3D helicopters, WLToys V950 will make a neat choice. It is cheap, its Ready to fly right outside the box and ready to do basic and advanced mild 3D Aerobatics. Equipped with Brushless motor, this helicopter has plenty of head speed for you to try various 3D aerobatics. Motor driving geared Tail rotor does a good job for a solid tail hold if you are not doing some crazy punches. 6 Axis Gyro System makes it very stable helicopter and does not allow any aerobatics even in idle up mode for beginners to learn to fly and or for you to just enjoy scaled flights in sports type of mode. All In all I will give it a good rating, despite of El cheapo quality radio it comes with. Rest does what its advertised to do. Enjoy the indoor unboxing video.

I’d try out a V977 or a V966, they’re so cheap and probably what you were actually planning to buy originally, although your K110 may already outclass them. I’m really enjoying mine though, it’s proving very simple to put back together when I do manage to stick it into the dirt extra hard. Most of the time they survive fine. They use the same transmitter I think, so you could go the BNF route. And I don’t know about the V950, but both the smaller birds have the drive gear loose enough that it just pushes down (and needs to be pushed back up to engage the motor gear again) after crashes, which preserves the internals and the gear itself very well, it’s a great failsafe. At least until the gear pops off entirely.

Happy new year Ali sir

Ralph Latham says:

250 size! (approx. slightly longer blades that Align 250)

does anyone have this heli? i would like to know if this thing is really worth the money? also is it very likely it will break in the event of a crash like ali said? thanks

Happy new year Ali

Benjamin Opfermann says:

This heli is terrible. No pitch control with the RTF unit and the one I have drifts backwards so bad that full forward elevator sometimes is not enough to overcome it. If I do trim it out when the battery starts to die it then noses forward way too much. This seriously does not fly any better than my 12 year old Honey Bee V1 with no gyro. Don’t even bother, just get something good to start with and save your money. Don’t know how the Master CP is, but it was between the V950 and that, but reading the servo issues with both, I’ll probably just drop the money for a Blade 230S for now.

Joseph Chen says:

It’s 250 sized, not 450 sized, m8.

Andy Nax says:

It’s a copy of the Walkera Master CP and it is a 200-250 class helicopter. A 450 class heli is much bigger… it’s about time you don’t pilot helicopters… 😉

Talal Tahir says:

please give me quadcopter in the contest plz plz plz

HeliMarcReviews says:

is it possible to change remote control to mode 3? looking forward for your answer. thanks in advance

Hi Ali.
A rookie question please :). The V950 transmitter works with WL Toys models like V931, V977 and V966?¿
Thank you.

blackhawktim12 says:

No offense dude, but you mention crashing like , maybe a hundred times. Maybe your skill set is such you should not have this bird. I mean its your money but , why not start with a coaxial? or just spend more hours on the sim? I do know from experience, if you say your going to crash,    your GOING to crash.     the parts for that bird cant be to expensive. I would think you could get a whole box of spares for about 20 bucks.  linkages, canopies, frames, tail booms etc.  etc..     I’m pretty sure that is a 200 size bird which is a little smaller than a 450 and guaranteed to have less power.    I could be wrong?   Anyway, I didn’t mean to sound like a smart ass but it almost sounded like you were talking yourself into crashing?   enjoy!

Brian Smith says:

For a $100 heli it is not bad. I think your being a little hard on it. If you want a 450 heli with better parts buy a more expensive one.

ed samuels says:

Thats a 250. Not even close to the size of my trex 450. Measure the blades if they are 370 to 450 mm then its a 450

waddac2 says:

Looks okay, but lets see buddy? Looking forward to next vid…..

Azyune says:

That tail motor cage design suggest it is a Walkera Master CP copy, and should be a 200 class. As Walkera spare parts getting scarce nowadays, maybe this be a better keeper plus wltoys parts usually cheaper too.

Dean Smiley says:

Trying to fly 3D Helis,is what led me to quads. My blade 400 is has been a shelf ornament, for the past 7 yrs lol!

Albert Wu says:

The BNF unit I got is a junk. Banggood send a refirbished unit as a brand new one. Pushrod won’t stay attatch with swashplate. All pitc are off. Scratch mark on the tail assembly screw. All signs shown someone worked on it before but did a bad job. Caontacted Banggood several times and all I got is keep apology and offer me a tail motor that I don’t need. no more purchase from Banggood from now on!

G Boni says:

it look very similar to the walkera Master CP

Jad Collado says:

looks real familiar. looked like the old school walkera master cp

RcBachelor says:

Hi Ali, how can I use all Channel from that copter with Multi Modul 4 in 1 with Horus? I need all functions, same as with original delivered TX.
Greeting Michael Frentzen RCBachelor

Present, the Jack Russell says:

Scaled up V933! if the tail has dual brushless + collective pitch it will be sweet.

Tipu Shah says:

Scott Hildenbrand says:

Nice overview of the Master CP…errr… V950. Looking forward to hearing how it breaks. First time I gently tipped my Master CP, it blew two servos and cracked the swash.

Wong S F says:

Wltoys V950 vs Walkera Master Cp which one better in term of durability, stable and repairing costs?

Ashish Amatya says:

i guess its actually 200 sized? u said 450. correct me. Also it look like the larger version of wltoys V977 heli

Joseph Erickson says:

nice helicopter happy New Year’s to you

Kanari Mentos says:

ali hi let me tell all you say is correct but the size is 200 this heli i havet it the wors heli in market all servos goes bad fast mean gear break from small crash canopy break in 3 meter high crash respond very slow and its heavy to deal with plastic the cheapest on market i tested very well ..i am changing all servos to metal but i am not recomant to any one

happy new year ali.after all who wins yous contest?

RD Simmers says:

Happy New Year, Mr. ASM !! looking forward to see your flight vids and your (maybe rusty, lol) 3d skillz

Brian Smith says:

I think it is a good transmitter for a $100 450 class heli.
