The Jet Panther is a lot of fun to drive. It is big, it is quick and is pretty durable as well. I was provided a sample in exchange for a review and what follows are my thoughts and opinions on this product.
It is bigger than I thought it would be. It was the length of my arm from the tips of my fingers to my elbow. I quickly charged up the rechargeable battery and off I was to the park. This buggy is fast, they claim 15+ mph and I can say that is pretty accurate. As far as durability is concerned, we did a couple run ins with curbs and then a full frontal at full speed and broke the front bumper. This buggy and curbs do not mix, I should have been more responsible and not let my 5 year old take first crack at it out front in our street. The front bumper broke off in half but this was my fault and I think the rest of the buggy held up great.
The transmitter has a great range, 40 meters (131) feet that we had no issues with either. I really like the flexible antenna on the transmitter, this way your kid can’t bend or break it. There also is no antenna on the buggy, again, so there is nothing to bend or break. Small detail but if one of those broke you would be taking this toy to the trash. Transmitter was very responsive, would be nice to see some throttle trim on it so you can scale the max speed back for youngsters just getting into the hobby. Was a little tricky to bind until I read the instructions on the back of the transmitter and then it bound no problem.
Steering and turning were excellent, this buggy was a lot of fun to drive and my 5 year old had a blast with it. I would say that this one is a little too fast for him right now, especially with no way to slow the buggy down. So, I want to put the minimum recommended age around 6.5-7 years. My son is 5 and with a big open park and some adult supervision he was fine.
Only suggestions for improvements would be a throttle trim and some replacement parts or a way to order them from the manufacturer. The huge bumper in the front and in the back are key to helping a younger child out with beginner crashes. Had a blast with this one.
