Review: ARRMA RaiderXL Buggy

Review: ARRMA RaiderXL Buggy
Here’s my review of the Raider XL from ARRMA. A great car with only a few setbacks that can be easily fixed with minimal effort and cost. Let’s hope ARRMA can address these issues in future releases and make this the ultimate 2WD desert buggy.

Thank you for watching. 🙂

With having a Kraton for over a year now my only real complaint is the lag in the esc and the fake deans. Arrma may not be the most known brand but when comparing there higher end models to larger brands similar cars I think Arrma blows them away. Just my opinion

Terry Campbell says:

Question about the AVC… did you have to put in a different receiver or did you just bind it to the stock one?i have one on the way…

brian murawski says:

I totally agree with almost everything you said. Super fast car but terrible tires. The only thing I kinda disagree with is the durability and part support. I’ve only ran this 4 or 5 times and every time I broke something. I’ve gone through 2 a-arms and a wing mount. And even though the parts are east to find I don’t like how they package things together. When I needed new front a-arms I had to order the front and rears together. So now I have 3 sets of rear arms and no extra front. Not the end of the world but kind of annoying. All and all the car is fun and it’s one of the reasons I pre ordered the new Kraton. Thanks for all the great work Vas, always look forward to your videos.

Theous Jones says:

I’ve owned my Raider xl for about 2 months now. Broken a couple steering components but other than the I absolutely love it! I’m running big joe tires /desperado wheels. What’s a beast! Soon ill be running my spc lipos!

Real RC Reviews says:

Good to see you had a lot of the same impressions of this buggy. I do like it, it just requires some some small investments. I do wish they’d charge a bit more for it and use better stuff from the get go.

Captain Carpenter says:

Well Mr. Aussie rc I might have misspoken. we have the 1/10th scale version and have had a few problems. But I know which one of my boys has been driving it and he’s the problem. I didn’t realize this was the 1/8 scale version. I loved driving the 1/10th scale version and hit your link where to purchase this. it is a very nice package and will probably purchase this. I’m a big two wheel fan and this has my interest. Do you think they will adress the problems you talked about in video?

Jason Handreich says:

just to add to my comment:

not 8th scale!
540 can motor
10th scale parts

diff outdrives are crap.
dogbones are too short and to thin.

tires are from a kids toy.
shocks are from a toy car.

my point…
traxxas owns this pos and i hate traxxas. but atleast thier stuff lasts!!!

ive had tamiya stuff last longer then my Raider XL lol

tommy23490 says:

You can use small o-rings instead of fuel tubing.. It works I’ve done it that way… I’m not knocking your solution just adding one.. Great review as always.. Very thorough..

Budget Friendly RC says:

Mega Monkey says:

VUNO YT says:

Veterra glamis uno sad there gone… I still have mine

blackie blackie says:

Gavin Marshall says:

Eric Smith says:

I like this buggy I seen called …
Redcat racing – Tornado
I believe it’s 4×4 , I kinda wanted a two wheel drive but gosh they can be a handful , with out proper tires.

MxForever says:

Way off. Currently it is $250 u.s I am going to order one soon

RC Revealed says:

Hey Vas, enjoyed the review. I think you give the best reviews on youtube and your channel is great. Thumbs up my friend.

gophop says:

Looks neat. I did get 2 Glamis Uno cars when they were heavily discounted. Many parts look similar to those of the RaiderXL. Both brands are owned by Hobbico, if I’m not mistaken. Too bad the Vaterra is discontinued; it has a few advantages over the RaiderXL.

mx5rm85 says:

Thanks for giving us another quality review

Sarge Scum says:

show me the one who disliked this video and I will disown this basterd son of me

Andrew Timson says:

hey vas, please can i say there is another buggy out there that is cheeper & 1000 times better – 1/10 baja prime desert buggy, ive give mine alot of abuse & nowt has gone wrong the battery tray is in the right place & everything.I know you are a buzzy gent when you have 5 mins look on google.thsnk you andy timson

Jhavere Simon says:

can someone sponsor me one of those for my birthday???

Gerard Scheffer says:

Personally I would not go for a rear wheel drive offroad car with the powerfull brushless systems nowadays. A long time ago me and my brother had lots of fun with the Grasshopper and Stadium Blitzer. Those were rear wheel drive and brushed with Nihm batteries. Even that cars would spin out very easily. I have to admit that we as kids never worried about tire choice though. Thanks for another great (and unbiased) review Vas!

Do R/C! says:

It’s funny, those stock shocks look EXACTLY like the stock latrax shocks, just bigger. Same shape same color everything. I wonder if they are made by the same company.

Ignus Fast says:

Very neat, but man that thing looks squirrely! Constantly on the edge of flipping over…

DatJames says:

Tyres came unglued on 2nd run! Guh, will have to grab some HPI wheels

Jason Handreich says:

arrma wont see another penny from me. garbage. period.

Captain Carpenter says:

It does aussie. we have many rc products and this would be a good addition. But only after we get that bushmaster! !

Red White & Blued says:

really good review Vas. I had an Arrma kraton that I sent back because all of the parts you mentioned kept breaking.

Michael Preyer says:

I just ran my new XL BLX today and had a blast. I ran a couple of 2S packs, then one 3S. It’s insane on 3S! I was happy with the
handling, fun quotient and durability. I had only one breakage: The rear wing mount. It happened on a pretty bad roll while on 3S. I’m OK with that – wings are always an issue on buggies. What bothers me, though, is that I have to buy an entire “Roll Cage” kit (AR320316) for $14 (USD) to get the $2 part I need. That part doesn’t even have it’s own part number. If anyone reading this has found a way to beef that up, please let me know.

David Law says:

they need to step up there game if they wanna compete with traxxas hpi and the other high brands

Robert Leland says:

$379????? This thing isn’t worth that. Luckily they are only 250 now!!!

Travis Reising says:

What kind of tires do you have on the back ???

KillerOffRoadHobbyz says:

Thanks for the video Vas!

Captain Carpenter says:

Too many better choices for a few $$ more. overpriced.

Tuga RC says:

great review. so good that I went and bought one yesterday and today I’m looking to get rear tyres as you said they are not great atoll and they already half bold . What tyres would you recommend?

linux0iid says:

Thank you very much, Vas! Each review you make is awesome and this one is no
exception! A lot of very useful information 🙂 Thanks from Russia 😉

RC Fast Bash And Crash says:
